Board Type and Function
Main control board. It reads the temperature sensors in the fresh food and freezer sections, works out what should happen next, and then switches the hardware that does the actual work. Every one of those pieces of hardware is a separate part that can fail on its own without the board being at fault.
A failing board shows itself by stopping several things together, in combinations that make no mechanical sense: cooling and lighting, or defrost and ice making, or a compressor that runs without ever satisfying. If the ice maker alone is dead, suspect the ice maker. Test this board first when two or three unrelated functions fail at the same time.
Do These GE Refrigerators Show Error Codes?
Plenty of the refrigerators built around this board carry a display in the door or the dispenser, but there is no fault-code table that belongs to the board itself. GE assigns code meanings by model series and prints them in the owner's manual, so check the meaning of any code in your owner's manual before ordering any part. How to Install a GE Refrigerator Main Control Board
For most people this is a half-hour job needing nothing more than ordinary hand tools. Pull the plug at the wall, roll the refrigerator forward until you can stand behind it, and remove the service panel from the foot of the back wall. Photograph the board with every plug still seated before you disconnect anything. Touch the metal frame to discharge static, release each connector by its latch, then set the new board in and reconnect from your photo. Food is normally fine during a typical install, but we highly recommend moving it to a cooler with ice as a precaution - Appliance Pro USA is not responsible for lost or spoiled food. Leave the doors shut and give it several hours to come back down to temperature before judging the repair.

Boards that have been tampered with, or with our verification stickers or holograms removed or damaged, are not eligible for warranty coverage. Damage caused by improper installation, electrical surges, or physical damage is not covered.
Returns
Returns accepted within 30 days of purchase. Items must be returned in original condition. All returns may be subject to deductions for original and return shipping fees. Restocking and retesting fees may apply to opened or installed boards - these fees are waived for exchanges, though reshipping costs and any price difference between products will apply. Boards returned with physical damage, missing components, missing or damaged hologram stickers, or signs of improper installation may not be eligible for a full refund.
Important Installation Notes
This is not a universal control board - it is a direct replacement for the part number printed on your original board. Boards that look identical can be programmed differently, so always match the number on the sticker.
Your replacement should look like the board you remove: same size, same connector layout, same mounting points. If what arrives does not match, stop before you install it and email us a photo of the board you took out with all of its stickers along with a photo of the one that arrived. We will confirm which board your refrigerator takes before anything goes in.
Some models may require a firmware update after installation; firmware updates and configuration changes should be performed by a qualified technician. Any board that has been flashed, reprogrammed, or had its firmware altered is not eligible for return or warranty coverage.
